Accomplishments

  • More than Twenty two thousand (22000) male and female students have benefitted from CECOS Educational Institutions. The Government agencies and departments, non-governmental organizations and commercial organizations have employed majority of them. Others have found suitable job opportunities in foreign countries. More than 3000 students are currently studying in different disciplines as full time students. CECOS provides the continuing education and essential modern skill development facilities for working adults in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
  • It has emerged as a major employer in the area with over 250 employees, working full time or part time, as an equal opportunity employer without any discrimination of color, race or religion. Some have been serving CECOS with job satisfaction for more than thirty nine (30) years. The administrative and managerial staff is well experienced, committed to careful expansion and loyal to the institutional development of CECOS.
  • Starting from a rental office, it has developed its assets as buildings and equipment worth multimillions.
  • CECOS has been providing merit scholarships to students of its Educational Institutions and financial assistance to economically less fortunate admission seekers.
  • CECOS London College, the training department of CECOS Computing International Ltd. UK (1998), has successfully sustained to offer admission to the international Students.
  • Reputed overseas organizations have approached for joint ventures or limited partnership with CECOS in the field of Information Technology.
  • CECOS has been granted Charter by the Government of NWFP (now KPK) for establishment of CECOS University in 2001.
  • CECOS has been selected for establishing a CISCO Networking Academy, the only one in KPK, by Federal Ministry of Science & Technology (MoST).
  • The Electrical, Civil & Mechanical Engineering Programmes of CECOS University have been accredited by Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).
  • The Management Sciences Programs of CECOS University have been accredited by National Business Education Accreditation Council.
  • The Computer Science Program of CECOS University has been accredited by National Computing Education Accreditation Council.
  • CECOS University launched the Bachelor of Architecture Program in the year 2007 and has the privilege of being the pioneer University to offer Architecture program in the Private Sector in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and after completing all the necessary requirements, the Pakistan Council of Architects and Town Planners has granted Accreditation to our Bachelor of Architecture Program and thus CECOS University has become the first private sector University of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to offer the Bachelor of Architecture Program duly accredited by PCATP.
  • The University also started Master of Engineering programmes in Civil & Electrical disciplines from the year 2009 and Ph.D Civil & Electrical Engineering programmes in 2013 and MS Mechanical Engineering Programme in 2014.
  • The Higher Education Commission, Islamabad, based upon their assessment with regard to academic studies, infrastructure facilities, conducive learning environment and other factor involving curricular & co-curricular activities, rated CECOS University as W3 /W*** Category University (upgraded from W category to W3 Category, against the highest W4/W**** category).
  • The CECOS University has been designated as approved Centre of Pakistan Engineering Council to offer Continued Professional Development (CPD) Courses and to conduct seminars under the CPD program.
  • CECOS is the pioneer private sector university which has set up an “Industrial Liaison Centre” at Hayatabad for the practical “field oriented” training of the Engineering graduates of the province.
  • CECOS University has a highly qualified and dynamic faculty including foreign qualified PhDs and MS Degree Holders.
  • CECOS has been actively participating in Research and Development where many research papers by the faculty and students have been published in internationally recognised journals.
  • The University has also established an Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) and Quality Assurance / Enhancement Cell headed by a Ph.D Doctor to promote Research & Development and to ensure that the Research Papers are published by the faculty members on regular basis. This will also help the students in their Research Projects, publication of University Research Journals and News Letters. It will also keep liaison with different industries and firms for the students’ internship and their job placement.
  • CECOS University has signed MoUs with the following Universities / Institutions for the academic collaboration with them:

    • Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Gazi Magusa, North Cyprus.

    • University of  Jerash, Jordan.
    • University of Ziguinchor, Senegal.
    • Discrete Event System Laboratory, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Department, New Jersey USA.
    • COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), Islamabad.
    • Riphah International University, Islamabad.
    • Indus Institute of Higher Education, Karachi.
  • CECOS has signed an MoU with District Administration of Peshawar for Beautification of Peshawar and has proposed a Model Qehwa Khana and Butcher Shop in initial phase.
  • CECOS has taken the lead role in Synthetic Biology and Bio Entrepreneurship in the province and is working closely with Government to achieve the desired results.
  • CECOS participated in the iGEM World Championship (iGEM standing for International Genetically Engineered Machines competition) held in the last week of October 2016 at Boston, USA. The team bagged a bronze medal in the finals which had 5500+ students in 300+ teams from 42 countries. No team had ever participated from Pakistan before this in the 12 year history of the competition at MIT – one of the world’s leading university.
  • University Advancement cell and CECOS Alumni Association “CECOSIANS” have been established to bridge the gap between CECOS and the Alumni. This will further the cause of CECOS Educational Institutions with community participation.
  • Placement Bureau has been established to bridge the gap between CECOS, Industry and the Alumni. Also, Tech Entrepreneur Centre provides an opportunity to students in initiating their own start-ups and CECOS Resources are provided in order to support them.
  • Students of CECOS University, Peshawar built a working prototype of a solar-powered rickshaw that will not only save drivers the fuel costs, but will also be environment-friendly. The environment-friendly rickshaw is completely automatic, and can attain speeds of up to 40 kilometers per hour. Compared to regular rickshaws, the vehicle does not have a CNG or petrol-based engine but is equipped with batteries that are charged through electricity generated from solar energy.
  • CECOS unveiled KP’s First Waste to Energy Power Plant in 2015. The project was sponsored by Directorate of Science & Technology (DoST), KPK and CECOS ORIC and is the first-ever power plant which uses solid waste to generate electricity. CECOS once again proved to be a leading university of the province in providing technological solutions to the problems of the society. This project is indeed a step towards CLEAN & GREEN KPK.
  • CECOS believes that universities have a role and responsibility to face the challenges of the increasing environmental concerns. Our goal is to lead not only in the academic sector but also towards being a socially responsible organization. Projects such as construction of Solar Rickshaws and The Waste to energy Power plant set up by CECOS with patronage of the Directorate of Science for converting the solid municipal waste into energy.
  • The Institute of Management Sciences (IM|Sciences), Peshawar and CECOS University signed a Memorandum of Understanding to launch a Joint Centre for Bioeconomy, a first Centre of its kind in the country that will look into the intersection of biotechnology, business and economics.
