MOU with the Institute of Financial Markets of Pakistan (IFMP)

CECOS University of IT & Emerging Technologies, a pioneering private university, taking a lead in that direction by inking MOU with the Institute of Financial Markets of Pakistan (IFMP) .

The Institute has been mandated to conduct licensing certification examinations for different segments of the market and develop skilled professionals who are;

  1. i) familiar with international best practices;
  2. ii) sensitized to the need of ethical behavior and;

iii) capable to deal and advise on instruments that are currently traded and also on new products.

The Institute will develop a pool of trained and certified professionals, skilled not only to deal in conventional instruments but also to develop and trade new and complex capital market products like options, index futures, and Exchange Traded Funds, and commodity futures. The program is intended to create a critical knowledge base and skill set among different institutional investors, such as mutual funds, insurance companies, pension fund managers, and other market participants.

The training program is designed to cover a variety of fixed income securities from conventional and Islamic markets, including sovereign, corporate, structured credit/asset-backed bonds and related derivatives.

Where appropriate, issues regarding bond market regulatory oversight (monitoring, compliance and enforcement), product development, and market operations will also be discussed.

The program intends to provide participants with a com- apprehensive understanding of bond markets and products, as well as pricing and portfolio management techniques. Participants will also be provided insights on fixed income analysis, instruments, investment, and trading.

Werner Riecke , the president adviser on government debt planning and management for (FMD) having 26 years of specialized experience in financial markets development including public finance , public debt and monetary affairs. His presentation highlighted the following area

John Crowley , the resident adviser debt capital markets of FMD , He posses significant experience structuring , negotiating and marketing capital market financing transactions across the worlds as an investment banker for Alex Brown (now part of Deutsche Bank).

Amir Khan, Currently the debt capital markets experts a FMD. He has worked in various capacities in the area of consulting, business development and treasury banking. He has more than five years of experience in Pakistan Treasury and capital market, working as a senior bond trader for Habib Bank Limited (HBL) during the workshop highlighted the following areas of financial development by presenting an Overview of regulatory framework, securities market infrastructure and trading

Abdul Qayyum currently engaged as the capital and money market experts for FMD. He brings more than ten years of working experience in treasury and investment portfolio. Following were the main key areas he contributed to
